Such a tragic, tragic loss to the music industry and to those who loved her, whether family, friends or fans. She was so talented; such a natural and effortless musician – just take a look at the video below (an acoustic version of ‘Love Is A Losing Game’ – a song which, to my mind, is a modern standard and deservedly won her a Novello songwriting award).
Russell Brand has written a now-famous tribute to her here, and it’s also worth reading this piece by Helen Brown in the Daily Telegraph. Brown is one of the few commentators to argue against describing Amy’s early death as ‘inevitable’, and I couldn’t agree more. Because part of the tragedy is surely that it in some way it feels preventable.
RIP Amy. Thank you for all the music you left us.
