I was honoured to be elected as a Labour councillor for Churchill Ward – in Pimlico, London SW1 – at the Westminster City Council elections in May 2018.
I believe that politics should be, above all, practical. That’s why I stood to be a councillor – because I wanted to help people in a practical, tangible way.
As well as working for the residents of Churchill, I am also the Shadow Cabinet Member for Community. I’m particularly passionate about arts and creativity, and their ability to improve our lives and bring communities together.
Here’s a blog post about my maiden speech as a councillor – which focused on the importance of the arts and access to them – and a post I wrote about joining the Labour party in 2015.
