‘I just said I’d write it. I didn’t say I wouldn’t tear it up.’
I’m a self-employed writer of scripts, articles, jokes, social media content, spoof news, parody songs and more.
My first feature film screenplay was optioned in 2018 and I am currently working on another feature script. For screenwriting, I’m represented by Christina Pickworth at Imagine Talent.
My credits cover radio, TV, live shows and podcasts, and include The News Quiz (BBC Radio 4), Newsjack (BBC Radio 4 Extra) and the topical comedy show NewsRevue. They also include shows without the word ‘News’ in the title, such as Never Mind The Buzzcocks.
As a freelancer, I have written and edited articles, homepages, social media content, news stories, opinion pieces, reviews, newsletters and more for various websites including BBC Radio 4, AOL, BT.com, MSN and UKTV.
Before going freelance, I was the Comedy Editor of The Huffington Post UK for three years: writing, commissioning, script-editing and curating funny, engaging content from spoof news stories to viral videos, listicles to features (and watching an awful lot of cat videos).
I have spoken on panels about writing and comedy at the London Screenwriters’ Festival, the London Comedy Writers’ Festival, the Big Comedy Conference, the Craft Of Comedy Writing Conference, the Writers’ Guild of Great Britain, the Writing East Midlands Writers’ Conference and Mumsnet Blogfest. I have reviewed the papers on Radio 4’s Broadcasting House, talked about funny women on BBC Radio Scotland’s Comedy Cafe, and been a guest on the brilliant Cinemile podcast.
