Live in West Yorkshire? Don’t want to WFH (write from home)? Come to Ilkley cafe Outside The Box to write in friendly company, at our regular twice-monthly Write-In!
The Ilkley Write-In was born out of my own desire to get away from my desk at home and create a regular time and place to write in the company of others in my hometown – and out of the desire to do the same for anyone in a similar boat!
We meet at the wonderful Outside The Box cafe in Ilkley on the first and third Wednesdays of the month, 10am-12pm.
Everyone’s welcome, whatever you’re writing – whether it’s for work or pleasure, fiction or non-fiction, a play or screenplay, poetry, short stories, social media posts, academic papers… you name it, you can come and join us to write it!
It’s not a writers’ group – ie. there’s no need to share or even talk about what you’re working on – just a friendly space where you can meet fellow writers and work alongside each other in a supportive environment. (And eat cake, if you so wish. Although by definition I think the mere presence of cake counts as ‘a supportive environment’.)
Just bring your laptop (or pen and paper!), and come down for the whole two hours, or just an hour, or half an hour… drop in/out whenever you like. It’s very relaxed and informal.
Outside The Box has a great full food menu – as well as serving fabulous coffees, teas and cakes, of course – so it’s a great place to stay on afterwards for lunch, too.
